| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Empress Tranquillina facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and bound with a diadem, wearing a decorated garment visible at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Lydian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. A Greek legend surrounds the bust, naming the empress with her full titulature. The portrait exhibits fine detail in the facial features and hairstyle, characteristic of Sardian civic bronzes struck under Gordian III. |
