| Obverse description | Laureate, bearded bust of Demos facing right, rendered in the local Phrygian provincial style. The portrait is relatively schematic, consistent with the civic coinage of the Conventus of Apamea during the reign of Gallienus. The legend ΔΗΜΟϹ appears in the field, identifying the personification of the civic community. The flan is irregular and the surfaces are heavily patinated, consistent with a bronze provincial issue of the mid-third century AD. |
