Obverse description Confronted busts of the Roman Senate (personified, helmeted, facing left) and the emperor Galba (bare-headed or laureate, facing right), jugate or face-to-face arrangement within the field. The Greek legend ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ ΓΑΛΒΑ appears around the periphery, naming the Senate and Galba respectively. The juxtaposition of the two busts reflects the dynastic and civic ideology of the provincially struck coinage of Ilium during the Year of the Four Emperors.
