| Obverse description | Corn-wreathed and draped bust of Kore Soteira facing right, the goddess depicted in the assimilated portrait style of Faustina II, a convention common in provincial coinage of the Antonine period. The corn wreath, an attribute closely associated with chthonic and fertility deities, crowns the head, while the drapery falls naturally across the shoulder. The legend ΚοΡΗ ϹΩΤΕΙΡΑ is inscribed in the field, identifying the deity as Kore the Saviour, a cult epithet of particular significance at Cyzicus. The bust is rendered in a competent provincial die-cutting style characteristic of the Mysian mint during the reign of Commodus. |
