Reverse description Dionysus, god of wine, stands facing left in a relaxed contrapposto pose, extending a cantharus downward toward a panther at his feet and holding a thyrsus in his left hand. A satyr advances to the left at the deity's feet, carrying what appears to be a pedum (shepherd's crook). The composition reflects the strong Dionysiac religious tradition associated with Lydian civic coinage, and the reverse legend identifies the issuing city encircling the type.
