Obverse description Bare head of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, rendered in the portrait style typical of provincial bronze coinage of the Antonine period. The effigy displays the characteristic mature features of the emperor, with short hair and no adornment. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥ ΤΙ ΑΙ ΚΑΙ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The die engraving, though worn on this example, reflects the competent local workshop tradition of the Halicarnassian mint.
