| Reverse description | A lion with a radiate solar disc depicted above or upon its back strides purposefully to the right, rendered in the provincial Lydian artistic tradition associated with Tralles. The animal is shown in a naturalistic walking pose with tail raised, a type closely linked to the ancient cultic and civic imagery of the city. The encircling Greek legend ΤΡΑΛΛΙΑΝΩΝ runs around the field, denoting civic authority. The coin's surface exhibits heavy patination consistent with burial, yet the main devices remain legible. This reverse type evokes the solar and Dionysiac associations prominent in Trallian coinage of the imperial period. |
