Additional information

Issued under the duoviri of Roman Corinth in 32–33 AD, this coin belongs to the colonial coinage struck by the refounded city Julius Caesar established in 44 BC on the site of the Greek city destroyed by Mummius in 146 BC. The magistrate Lucius Furius Labeo, named on this piece, is otherwise unattested in the literary record — his survival in the historical consciousness depends entirely on coins of this type.

RPC I 1170 is among the more elusive Tiberian issues from the Corinthian mint, which produced sporadically under the Julio-Claudians.
