| Obverse description | Laureate head of Demos facing right, with drapery visible on the left shoulder, rendered in the provincial Greek tradition. The portrait conveys a idealized civic personification, consistent with the representation of Demos on civic bronze coinage of Asia Minor. The legend ΔΗΜΟϹ appears in the field, identifying the effigy as the personified People of Bagis. The flan is slightly irregular, and the surfaces show the characteristic green patina of ancient provincial bronze coinage. |

Bagis was a minor Lydian city in the Hermus River valley whose civic coinage under Septimius Severus represents one of the few material traces of its municipal existence. The magistrate named in the obverse legend — Gaios — is otherwise unattested outside this coin series, making each surviving specimen a rare document of local administrative history in the Sardis conventus.
