Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus facing right, rendered in the characteristic Severan style with a short beard. The imperial effigy is depicted with fine detail in the hair and laurel wreath. The Greek legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan, reading from left to right. The coin exhibits the typical irregular flan and bold die-cutting characteristic of provincial bronze coinage struck at Ephesus.
