Reverse description A cornucopia and a ship's rudder crossed diagonally at the centre of the field, forming an X-shaped composition emblematic of prosperity and civic authority. The cornucopia, rendered with detailed ribbing, faces upper left, while the rudder is positioned diagonally beneath it. The surrounding legend proclaims the civic pride of Sardis as a twice-neocorate city, a title indicating the city held the honour of maintaining two imperial cult temples. The design is characteristic of the civic bronze coinage produced at Sardis under the Conventus during the reign of Philip I.
