| Obverse description | Bare-headed, youthful laureate bust of Commodus facing right, with short hair rendered in fine curls characteristic of his early portraiture. The effigy shows the emperor in draped and cuirassed fashion, the features youthful and idealized consistent with his co-regency period under Marcus Aurelius. A Greek imperial legend encircles the bust in the field. |
