Obverse description Laureate head of the emperor Claudius facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Alexandrian mint. The portrait displays the characteristic features of Claudius with a laurel wreath upon the head. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΤΙ ΚΛΑΥ ΚΑΙ ϹΕΒΑϹ ΓΕΡΜΑ, identifying the emperor as Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show typical heavy patination associated with Egyptian provincial bronze coinage.
