Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portraiture tradition characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's idealised features with short hair rendered in fine strands. The Greek legend ΘΕΟΥ ΥΙΟΥ (son of a god) appears in the field, referencing Augustus's adoptive divine lineage through Julius Caesar. The flan is irregular and the surfaces exhibit the typical granular patina associated with Egyptian bronze issues of this period.

Reverse description An eagle standing to the left, rendered in the bold style typical of Alexandrian bronze coinage, with wings partially spread and head turned. A cornucopia appears to the left of the eagle, serving as a symbol of abundance and imperial beneficence. The circular Greek legend ΚΑΙΣΑΡΟΣ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΟΡΟΣ runs around the field, accompanied by the regnal year numeral Μ (= 40) as a date mark within the Augustan era of Alexandria. The design continues the Ptolemaic iconographic tradition of the eagle reverse, adapted here for Roman imperial use.
