| Reverse description | A decorated, lighted altar depicted frontally at centre, flanked on either side by upright torches with flames, the entire composition conveying a scene of active religious cult. The altar is rendered with architectural detailing characteristic of provincial Carian bronze coinage. The ethnic legend of the Stratoniceans is inscribed around the type in the field. The style and fabric are consistent with civic bronze issues of the Antonine period from the conventus of Alabanda. |
