| Reverse description | Veiled figure of Phthia, the eponymous heroine of Phthia, striding to the right and holding a flaming torch in each raised hand. To the right of the figure stands a large dove facing right with head turned left, serving as a symbolic emblem of the city of Aegium. The denomination legend ΗΜΙΟΒΕΛΙΝ is inscribed in the field, making this one of the rare Greek provincial bronzes to explicitly declare its fractional value. The reverse composition reflects the local religious and civic iconographic tradition of Achaea under Roman imperial rule. |
