Reverse description A horse strides to the right in the field, its musculature rendered in low relief consistent with provincial Troas coinage. Standing behind the horse is a herdsman figure holding a pedum (shepherd's crook), a type emblematic of the famous horse-breeding traditions of the Troad region. The colonial legend COL AVG TROA(D) is partially visible along the lower border, much of it obscured by wear and the irregular flan edge. The overall composition references the celebrated horse pastures sacred to the Troad.
