| Obverse description | Laureate head of the Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in the realist portraiture style characteristic of the Trajanic period. The wreath of laurel is depicted in detail around the head, with individual leaves visible. The portrait displays strong facial features with a prominent nose and defined jaw. The obverse legend, partially preserved, runs around the periphery of the flan and identifies the emperor by his imperial titulature. |

| Reverse description | Cybele, the Phrygian mother goddess, depicted turreted and seated to the left upon a throne, her right hand extended forward holding a patera in an act of libation, her left arm resting upon a tympanum (ritual drum). At her feet, a lion is shown in profile facing right, the sacred animal of Cybele and a standard iconographic attribute of the goddess. The reverse legend in Greek identifies the issuing civic magistrate and the city of Philadelphia. |
