Reverse description Apollo depicted riding to the right on horseback, brandishing a labrys (double axe) in his raised hand, a distinctive Anatolian iconographic attribute closely associated with the god in the Phrygian region. The horse is shown in a lively gait, with the rider's drapery flowing behind. The surrounding and lower field legend proclaims the neocorate homonoia between the issuing cities. The composition reflects the local religious traditions of Hierapolis in Phrygia.
