Additional information

Nero's eighth regnal year in Egypt — marked by the Λ Η date on this issue — fell during a period of relative administrative stability in the province, before the grain shortages and fiscal pressures of his later reign began straining the Alexandrian economy. Egypt remained a closed currency zone under Roman rule, meaning imported coinage was reminted locally and this bronze circulated entirely within the province's borders.
