Reverse description Nude Eros standing facing, head turned to the right, holding a transverse torch grasped with both hands and directed to the right. The figure is rendered in a naturalistic Hellenistic style, characteristic of the civic bronze coinage of Aphrodisias during the Antonine period. The ethnic legend ΑΦΡΟΔΕΙϹΙΕΩΝ is disposed around the field, identifying the issuing city. The reverse composition reflects the city's devotion to Aphrodite, whose divine attendant Eros serves as an emblematic type.
