Obverse description Draped bust of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head and aegis over the shoulder. The helmet crest is rendered in high relief, and the facial features display the characteristic provincial Greek artistic style of the Trajanic period. The legend ϹΑΛΗΝΩΝ arcs around the right field, identifying the civic issuing authority of Sala. The overall style is consistent with local Lydian mint production of the early second century AD.
