Reverse description Athena depicted standing facing, her head turned to the left, holding a patera in her extended right hand and a long spear in her left; a round shield rests against her side or stands behind her. The goddess is rendered in full figure in the Hellenistic tradition common to Lydian civic bronze coinage, with the attributes clearly identifying her as the divine patron of wisdom and warfare. The encircling Greek legend ΘΥΑΤΕΙΡΗΝΩΝ identifies the issuing city of Thyatira in the genitive plural, a standard formula for provincial civic issues of the Roman Imperial period.
