Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Domitian facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Alexandrian coinage. The imperial effigy is depicted with a laurel wreath, the standard mark of Roman imperial dignity. A Greek legend surrounds the bust, identifying the emperor by his full titulature, with the regnal year numeral L Δ (year 4) appearing in the field. The flan is irregularly shaped, as typical of hammered Alexandrian bronzes of this period, and the surfaces show the characteristic green and brown patination of Egyptian provincial coinage.
