| Obverse description | Central device comprising a poppy head flanked on either side by a tall ear of grain, all rising from a common stem. Above the poppy, a crescent with a star above it occupies the upper field. The Greek legend ΤΙ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΥ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ ΝΕΙΚΗ runs around the periphery. The composition is rendered in the provincial hammered style, with bold relief typical of Bithynian civic coinage under Claudius. |

| Reverse description | A winged thunderbolt depicted in the central field, rendered in the conventional provincial style with feathered wings extending laterally from a central cylindrical body. The multi-line Greek legend referencing the proconsul Mindius Balbus and the metropolis of Nicomedia is distributed around and across the field. The inscription identifies the issuing civic authority and the magistrate responsible for the coinage, as was customary in Bithynian provincial issues of the Julio-Claudian period. |
