| Obverse description | Radiate head of the emperor Caracalla facing right, with the characteristic spiked radiate crown rendered in low relief. The portrait displays the youthful features associated with early issues of his reign. A Greek legend encircles the effigy in the field, reading ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΟϹ. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy patination consistent with provincial bronze coinage of Phrygia. |
