| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Caracalla facing right, the emperor portrayed in the characteristic youthful style of his early reign. A Greek legend encircles the effigy in the field, reading ΑΥ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his dynastic name Antoninus. The die work is typical of Phrygian provincial coinage, with broad, somewhat flat relief consistent with local mint production. |
