Obverse description Bare laureate head of the emperor Caligula (Gaius Caesar) facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with naturalistic features. The legend ΓΑΙΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ appears in Greek characters around the bust. The coin is struck on an irregularly shaped flan and shows characteristic green patina consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the Julio-Claudian period.
