| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition characteristic of eastern provincial coinage. The effigy displays the distinctive features associated with Augustan portraiture, including a broad brow and classicising treatment of the hair beneath the laurel wreath. The surrounding field is heavily worn, with the Greek legend distributed around the periphery of the flan. The coin exhibits the slightly irregular fabric typical of hand-struck provincial bronzes from Asia Minor. |
