| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized portraiture characteristic of early Julio-Claudian provincial coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic features with short, layered hair swept forward over the brow. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ is inscribed in the field to the left of the portrait. The flan shows typical irregular hammered fabric with dark patination. |
