Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the classical portrait style characteristic of early Julio-Claudian provincial coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's idealized features with short, layered hair. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Sebastos, the Greek equivalent of Augustus) is inscribed in the field surrounding the portrait.
