Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Augustan portrait style characteristic of early Imperial provincial coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic features with short, layered hair. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Sebastos, the Greek equivalent of Augustus) encircles the portrait within the field. The flan is irregular, as is typical of hammered Phrygian civic bronzes of this period.
