Temnus was a small Aeolian city on the Hermus River whose civic coinage was modest in output and whose magistrates occasionally appear across multiple issues — Apollas son of Phaenios held the tamias (treasurer) office recorded here, a title reflecting the city's formal administrative structure under Roman provincial organization. The conventus of Smyrna grouped Temnus with larger neighbors for judicial and administrative purposes, yet the city retained the right to strike its own bronze. RPC I 2454 is known from very few specimens.
