| Obverse description | Draped bust of Faustina II (attributed with query) facing right, with elaborately coiffed hair arranged in wavy ridges and drawn up at the crown in the characteristic Antonine fashion. The portrait is rendered in typical provincial style, with the drapery visible at the truncation. The Greek legend ΦΑΥϹΤΕΙΝΑ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗ appears in the field to the right of the effigy, partially visible due to the irregular flan. The workmanship reflects the provincial die-cutting tradition of Ionian civic mints under the Antonine dynasty. |
