Obverse description Draped bust of Sarapis facing right, wearing the characteristic modius (kalathos) atop his head, a divine attribute identifying the Graeco-Egyptian deity. The portrait is rendered in the provincial style typical of Ionian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. The legend ΤΗΙΩΝ appears in the field, denoting the civic authority of Teos. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy patination consistent with long burial.
