| Obverse description | Laureate head of Tiberius (?) facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Phrygian civic coinage of the early Imperial period. The portrait displays the characteristic features of the Julio-Claudian dynastic type, with a laurel wreath crowning the head. The legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Augustus) accompanies the imperial effigy in the field. |

Prymnessus was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Tiberius almost certainly required approval from the Roman proconsul of Asia operating out of the Synnadean conventus — one of the judicial districts through which Rome managed the province. The magistrate name ΚΑΙΚΙΛΙΟΣ ΠΛΟΚΑΜΟΣ preserved on this piece is among the few surviving records of any individual holding civic office in Prymnessus during the Julio-Claudian period.
