| Obverse description | Turreted and draped bust of Cybele Sipylene facing right, her distinctive mural crown rendered with multiple turrets atop the head. The goddess is depicted in the local Smyrnaean cultic tradition as Sipylene Cybele, with drapery visible at the shoulder. The Greek legend ϹΙΠΥΛΗΝΗ is inscribed around the bust in the field, identifying the deity by her epithet derived from Mount Sipylus near Smyrna. The overall style is characteristic of provincial bronze coinage of Asia Minor under the Antonine emperors. |
