Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, rendered with characteristic long beard and short curling hair as typical of his early imperial portraits. The effigy displays the emperor's mature physiognomy with naturalistically modelled facial features. A Greek imperial legend surrounds the bust in the field, reading ΑΥ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥΡΗ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝοϹ, identifying the emperor by his titles. The die work is typical of a provincial Mysian mint, with a somewhat rough but expressive style.
