Obverse description Bare or lightly draped head of Zeus Akraios facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Smyrnaean civic coinage of the Antonine period. The portrait displays the god's characteristic mature, bearded physiognomy with traces of drapery at the shoulder. The legend ΖΕΥϹ ΑΚΡΑΙΟϹ appears in the field, identifying the deity as Zeus of the summit or heights, a cult epithet closely associated with Smyrna. The flan is irregular and the surfaces are heavily patinated with dark green encrustation consistent with extended burial, rendering fine details partially obscured.
