| Reverse description | A ship's prow facing right occupies the central field, rendered in profile with horizontal hull strakes and a projecting ram visible at the bow. Above the prow, two small objects are partially discernible, though heavily worn and difficult to identify with certainty. A fragmentary Greek legend, reading ANO, is partially preserved around the periphery of the flan. The type alludes to the maritime significance of Coela, a port city on the Thracian Chersonesos. The reverse field shows considerable patination and surface corrosion consistent with extended burial. |

Coela was a minor Thracian city on the Gallipoli peninsula whose civic coinage under Hadrian reflects the emperor's well-documented policy of encouraging provincial urban identity — he visited Thrace during his extensive eastern tours of 123–124 and again in 128–129 AD. Municipal bronzes from Coela are genuinely scarce in any condition; the city's small population and limited commercial reach meant production runs were modest, and few pieces entered wide circulation beyond the immediate region.
