| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Maesa facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Mysian civic coinage of the Severan period. The empress is depicted with her characteristic elaborately waved and coiled hair, dressed in draped garments. The circular Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ΜΑΙϹΑ runs around the bust in the field. The flan is slightly irregular and the surfaces exhibit the characteristic dark olive-green patina of excavated bronzes from this region. |
