Reverse description Asclepius, the god of medicine, depicted standing facing with head turned to the left, robed in a long himation draped about the lower body, and holding his characteristic serpent-entwined staff (kerykeion of Asclepius) in his left hand, the coiled serpent rising alongside the staff. The figure is rendered in a statuesque provincial style typical of Ionian civic coinage of the Severan period. The ethnic legend of the issuing city encircles the type in the field.
