| Reverse description | A Delphic tripod cauldron depicted facing, with three legs resting on a base and a bowl surmounted by a loop handle at the top, centrally positioned in the field. The tripod is rendered in a bold, schematic style typical of Phrygian civic bronzes of the Augustan period. The encircling legend ΔΙΦΙΛΟΣ ΦΙΛΟΠΑΤΡΙΣ ΙΕΡΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ, naming the local magistrate Diphilos and identifying the issuing city, is distributed to the left and right of the central device. The inscription references Diphilos as philopatris, meaning 'lover of his homeland', a civic honorific common in Asia Minor during the early Imperial period. |
