| Obverse description | Bare head of Dionysus facing right, adorned with an ivy wreath, rendered in the Hellenistic tradition with curling locks visible at the temple and nape. The portrait is modelled in moderate relief with naturalistic facial features characteristic of late Republican provincial coinage. The Greek civic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ curves along the left field, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea. The flan is slightly irregular, typical of hand-struck provincial bronze issues of this period. |

| Reverse description | Walking elephant depicted in right profile, rendered with characteristic thick legs and upraised trunk, set upon a ground line. The type alludes to Roman military symbolism and Augustan power, reflecting the influence of the proconsul under whose authority the coin was struck. A monogram or letter appears in the right field. The multi-line Greek legend naming the proconsul Thorius Flaccus is distributed around the field, referencing his authority as the Roman magistrate overseeing Bithynia. |
