Additional information

Nicopolis ad Isthmon was founded by Nero to commemorate his victory at the Isthmian Games in 67 AD — a city born from imperial vanity rather than strategic need. The city retained the right to strike civic bronze under Antoninus Pius, one of the more prolific periods for provincial coinage across Achaea, when Rome's relative stability encouraged local mints to produce without interruption across the full span of his twenty-three-year reign.
