| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with the imperial titulature partially legible in Greek around the periphery. The portrait displays the characteristic bearded effigy of the emperor rendered in the provincial style typical of Moesian civic coinage. The legend commences from the upper left and reads partially ΑΥΤ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ΑΝΤΩΝ, with the remainder lost or off-flan due to the irregular flan. The overall die work reflects the competent but somewhat provincial engraving style of Odessos workshops of the mid-second century AD. |
