| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with short beard and mature physiognomy rendered in the provincial style. The emperor's effigy is depicted with naturalistically rendered hair and a slightly draped shoulder visible at the truncation. The Greek imperial titulature legend ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΑΔΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ runs around the periphery of the flan. The die work reflects the competent but somewhat rustic engraving characteristic of Mysian provincial bronze coinage of the Antonine period. |
