| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Vespasian facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Asia Minor civic coinage. The portrait displays the emperor's characteristic mature features with a laurel wreath encircling the head. The Greek legend ΟΥΕϹΠΑϹΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΟϹ extends around the periphery of the flan, identifying the ruler as Augustus. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of hammered provincial bronze issues of the Flavian period. |
