| Reverse description | Cybele, the Phrygian mother goddess, enthroned and seated to the left, holding a patera in her extended right hand and a tympanon in her left. A lion, her sacred attribute, is depicted at her feet. The reverse type reflects the strong local veneration of Cybele in the Troad region, and the composition is characteristic of civic bronze coinage from Asia Minor under the Flavian emperors. The ethnic legend of the issuing city encircles the reverse field. |
