Reverse description Three upright corn ears (grain stalks) rising from a common base, displayed prominently in the central field as a symbol of the agricultural fertility of Roman Africa. The ears are rendered with stylized detail, their heads fanning outward. The surrounding Latin legend, distributed around the periphery of the flan, names the two local magistrates responsible for the issue and records the authorizing decree of the town council. The reverse design reflects Carthage's identity as a principal grain-producing region of the Roman Empire.
